Today, Dreverna is a living legacy of fishing culture and a cultural hub. Stop by the ethnographic homestead of the famous shipbuilder Jonas Gižas! At the exhibition “Jonas Gižas: Unlocking the Boatbuilder’s Chest...” you’ll learn about the master craftsman, see an original weather vane and ship models, and find tourist information and stories about Dreverna, Svencelė, and the culture of the Pamario region.
The Dreverna Small Boat Harbor invites you to enjoy the views of the Curonian Lagoon, a romantic getaway in Scandinavian-style cottages, swimming pools, and delicious restaurant dishes. Don’t forget to climb the 15-meter-high observation tower—it offers breathtaking views of the Curonian Lagoon and the Dead Dunes.
The Dreverna community and cultural center are a vibrant cultural hub teeming with creative activity. The “Žvejytės” folk ensemble tells stories of the Pamario region in the Lithuanian dialect through its performances and promotes our region throughout Lithuania.
The Ancient Plant Garden is open year-round—it features about a hundred species of plants, whose seeds date from the Neolithic period to the 12th century. The “Lamata” Craftsmen’s Guild entices visitors with the flavors of ancient Viking dishes. The Local Action Group of the Western Lithuania Fisheries Region promotes fisheries, recreational tourism, and aquaculture. Petro Vasiliauskas’s potato seed farm “Vfarm” is renowned for its high-quality produce, while the cooperatives “Vfarm Agro” and “Žvejo rojus” bring together local farmers and fishermen who foster community-based business.
Dreverna is also a hub for sustainable business. Here, the “Nine Voices” biomass processing plant protects nature: by processing grass cut from natural wetlands—or grass no longer suitable for animal feed—it supports the unique habitat of Europe’s rarest songbird, the aquatic warbler. The salmon farm uses eco-friendly technologies and prioritizes fish farming, environmental protection, and water quality, contributing to the sustainable development of aquaculture.
Every year, Dreverna hosts well-known events: the Dreverna Equinox Festival, the “On the Edge of the Lagoon” Fishermen’s Festival, and the Wind Festival. The “Žiemys” sailing school is in operation, where children and young people discover a passion for the water and learn to understand the wind.
The residents of Dreverna are warm, hospitable, and open-hearted. The library, youth center, kindergarten, and medical clinic create a safe, creative, and community-oriented environment.
