It was decided to build a ship in Dreverna according to the 19-20th century Curonian Lagoon‘s cargo ship model of famous shipman Jonas Gižas. A similar model is stored at the Jonas Gižas ethnographic homestead in Dreverna. The construction of the ship took place at the Dreverna harbour quay. Not only the inhabitants of Dreverna, but also all the guests who visited, could observe the birth of an ancient sailing ship from spring to autumn in 2014. The length of “Dreverna” is 18.08 m, width – 4.00 m. The author of the project is Klaipeda District Tourism Information Centre. The shipbuilder and the captain is Vaidotas Bliūdžius.
We invite you to sail with this ancient Curonian Lagoon sailing ship during the educational entertainment programme “FISH TRAIL”. During the program, you will taste a unique fish soup made by Dreverna inhabitants, and pamper your palate with traditional Lithuanian gluten cake and coffee. A degustation of a locally produced natural wine “Memel Wine”, which has national heritage certificate, is waiting for you.
