This local traditional wine takes its name after the city of Memel and is produced under the old traditional recipe inherited from grandparents. It is said that the recipe has been passed down from generation to generation and dates back as far as to the times of Crusaders. Long-year craftsmanship and passion for winemaking resulted in the unique character natural wine renowned for its excellent flavour and aroma.
“Memel wine” is a small boutique winery, which makes limited edition, outstanding quality, handcrafted wine. Our sole aim is – to make the highest quality wine using local raw materials thereby promoting the Lithuanian wine culture and celebrating the traditions of our family and national heritage.
Our winery is located between Priekulė and Dreverna. As far as the eye can see the winery is surrounded by meadows, which are divided by water channels into regular-shaped plots, forests and marvelous sand dunes on the other side of the bay, on the Curonian Spit that is included into UNESCO World heritage list. The roads behind our winery wind to Dreverna, Svencelė, Mingė, Kintai, Ventė horn, a little farther – the road to Šilutė, Rusnė, Pagėgiai, and the historical road to Tilsit and Königsberg.
This place is one of the most peaceful and unspoiled spots; when the lagoon breeze calms down in the evening, the winery immerses into absolute tranquility. It’s an ideal place for handcrafted specialty wine. Here “Memel wine” comes to life.
