An exceptional culinary water-tourism route in the Pamarys region, cruising the Dreverna River, Minija River, King Wilhelm Canal, the Curonian Lagoon and Nemunas Delta. During the route, you can take in the Pamarys nature, visit regional places of interest and learn about the shipbuilding and the history of fishing. And, most importantly, during the cruise, you will enjoy the culinary heritage of Pamarys and Lithuania Minor: six species of smoked fish from local water bodies and fish or eel soup. You will taste the ‘Royal’ or ‘Blue Carp’ and enjoy desserts such as ‘kaffee’ (lith. kafija), ‘Šišioniškiai’ waffles, ‘gliumzinis’ (curd) cake and other traditional local meals.
In Dreverna, at shipbuilder Jonas Gižas’ ethnographic farmstead, you will be greeted with a dessert typical of Lithuania Minor and the ‘I’ll Become a Fisherman’ folklore programme performed by ‘Žvejytės’. The museum hosts the improvised workshop of J. Gižas where you will have the opportunity to open the toolbox of the famous coastal shipbuilder. You will taste wine from the Memel Wine winery. Then you will ride in a speedboat from the Dreverna port along the Dreverna River, King Wilhelm Canal and the Minija River towards Kintai. After lunch in the ‘Mėlynasis karpis’ tourist complex, you will continue your route to the village of Minija, our Lithuanian Venice. You will enter the Krokų Lanka Lake by the Atmata River, visit the Uostadvaris Lighthouse, reach the Upaitė River by the Hunters’ Trail and have the chance to admire the lily plantations in Kniaupas Bay. After entering the Curonian Lagoon, you can wave at the Ventė Lighthouse from a distance. For something to eat, why not stop at the Ventainė restaurant? While sailing in the Curonian Lagoon, take a moment to admire the Dead Dunes of the Nagliai Nature Reserve before returning to Dreverna.
Through this unique tour you will experience being on four water bodies by speedboat, and two other types of boats, changing the form of transportation during the voyage and also continuing on a stretch of the trip by bus.
