Sculpture Bangpūtys

When you arrive in Dreverna, the first thing you will be greeted by is the sculpture "Bangpútys" (author: Darius Vilius), built in 2023. Thanks to the Dreverna community project "Adaptation of small infrastructure, public spaces to the needs of fishermen and tourists in Dreverna".

Bangpūtys is the sea god of western Lithuanians and old Prussians. Fishermen used to bathe at certain times in honor of Bangpūtis, and in the spring, while fishing in the lagoon, they cooked the first pike, and also in his honor they kept several ghosts, called narcis, which dived into the water and communicated with the waters. And today, Dreverna residents and guests can see Bangpútis by sailing across the Curonian Lagoon with the ancient sailing ship "Dreverna" to the Dreverna fishermen's festival "On the edge of the lagoon".
