Located in Gargždai City Park, Baron Renių Square invites visitors to learn about the history of the town’s manor and enjoy the cozy surroundings filled with greenery.
Gargždai Manor has been mentioned in historical sources since the early 16th century and reached its peak of prosperity in the 19th century, when it was owned by the Barons Renė (Rönne). At that time, the manor was a hub of active agricultural, cultural, and social life, and its garden and English-style park were carefully tended.
One of the square’s most important features is the restored, authentic stone-lined manor well, which evokes the history of the 19th century. Fragments of the stone fence have also been preserved and restored here, and walking paths, greenery, and decorative elements depicting the coat of arms of the Baron Renis family have been installed.
