1. Reed Bunting

Size: Sparrow-sized (L13.5‒15.5cm)

Life expectancy: 11‒12 years

Distribution: 40,000‒80,000 pairs

Breeding: Breeds in reeds, near water, or in scrub, but can also breed in drier areas. Nest on the ground or in a bush of up to 1‒2 meters. The nest resembles a bowl of grass and moss, lined with smaller grasses and hairs and reed flowers. The nest is built by the female. The common reed bunting usually lays 4-5, in some cases 6-7 eggs. The transition time is about 12‒14 days. The egg is hatched by the female, but after the chick hatches, it is fed by both parents. The chick leaves the nest after 10‒13 days.

Appearance: Black head, white collar with black dewlap. The tail is gray. The head of the female is grey-black and the dewlap is whitish. The back is longitudinally striped.
