Excursions in Priekule

During the tour you will listen to a story about the post-war freedom struggles and deportations in Klaipėda region. Inside the Museum of the History of Freedom Struggles and Exile, you will see rare and original exhibits: a cross made of bread, fish-tail stitched and embroidered articles, leather and woven wickerwork, a variety of utensils, a collection of copper ore, etc. You will descend to the basement where the prison cell of the security headquarters was located.

In the outdoor exhibition, you will have the unique opportunity to board a real exile wagon and visit a replica of a partisan bunker.

During the tour, you will walk through the historic centre of Priekulė, where the old Evangelical Lutheran Church used to stand, the market was bustling in the market square, several taverns were inviting you to come in, and carts were plying their trade. You will learn about the history of the development of this town in Lithuania Minor for almost six centuries. You will see authentic buildings of the old architecture, hear the legend of the ghost of the landlord Puserna by a lonely stone tombstone and many other interesting stories.

During the tour you will see the former printing houses in Priekulė, Druki, Gropiškiai. You will learn about the development of printing in Priekulė in the 19th and 20th centuries, visit the tombs and cemeteries where famous printers are buried.
