2. Black-headed Gull

Size: Crow-sized (L35‒39 cm)

Life expectancy: 31‒32 years

Distribution: 30 000‒60 000 pairs

Breeding: Breeds in colonies, once per season. The nest of these birds is built on the ground by the male. Black-headed Gulls usually lay 2-3 eggs (up to 6 eggs at most). Both parents incubate the eggs for 21‒27 days. The young fledglings leave after 5‒6 weeks.

Appearance: A white body, dark brown head with white eye rim. Distinguished by its red beak, black wingtips and red legs with webbing between the toes.
