Jurgis Šaulis Gymnasium Museum, Veiviržėnai

Museums

The Veiviržėnai Town and School Museum was founded in 1957 by Antanas Tyla, who was then a history teacher (and subsequently a habilitated doctor, professor, famous Lithuanian historian and archeographer). Over 67 years, about 5,000 units of exhibits were collected in the main fund and about 3,000 units in the auxiliary fund. The museum reveals the history of the township of Veiviržėnai and the surrounding villages and acquaints its visitors with the personalities from the township and area, including the signatories Jurgis Šaulys and Kazimieras Antanavičius. The museum also has a rich exposition of folk sculptures and household tools. When in Veiviržėnai, you can also learn all about the history of the churches of Veiviržėnai by visiting the museum at the Jurgis Šaulys Gymnasium of Veiviržėnai.
