Vanagai is a village in the Klaipėda district, 3 kilometres south of Agluonėnai. This is a historically significant settlement in the Klaipėda district, where Ieva Simonaitytė, a Lithuanian classic literature creator who wrote autobiographical short stories and novels, was born. A wooden sculpture created by a folk artist decorates the village of Vanagai, marking the birthplace of the writer. In 1909, a neo-Gothic Evangelical Lutheran church was built, which has clear features of modernist and even rationalist architecture. Next to the church lies the Vanagai ethnographic cemetery, where prominent public figures of Lithuania Minor are buried.
