The central gate of the old cemetery was built at the end of the 19th century and has elements of the neoclassical style characterised by simplicity and grandeur with clear proportions and moderate decor. The builder of the gate is unknown; however, according to the elderly residents of Gargždai, it was decorated by an artist invited from Poland by the landlords of Gargždai. The grave of the parents and relatives of Mykolas Vaitkus (1883–1973), a canon, writer and honorary citizen of Gargždai town, as well as the grave of the parents of General Jonas Žemaitias-Vytautas, who was a commander of the Lithuanian partisans, can be found in the cemetery.
