The memory of Ieva Simonaitytė is inseparable from the town of Priekulė. In the town, on the bank of the Minija River, the writer had a summerhouse built (she called it ‘a summer residence’), where she summered and created works between 1961 and 1978. In 1980, the Ieva Simonaitytė Memorial Museum was established in this house. The Priekulė gymnasium is named after Ieva Simonaitytė, and a monument to Ieva Simonaitytė named ‘Šventvakarių Ėvė’ was erected in the centre of the town.
The monument in the centre of Priekulė, at the intersection of Klaipėda and Turgaus streets, was unveiled in 1997. The creators of the monument are Dalia Matulaitė (sculptor) and Rimantas Buivydas and Jūras Balkevičius (architects).
