The Lankupiai Lock, located in the village of Lankupiai within the Priekulė eldership, is the only lock in Lithuania assigned the status of a technical monument. The lock was designed to equalise large water level fluctuations of the Minija River during floods. The time required for a ship to pass through it would total 45 minutes. The Lankupiai Lock is still occasionally used for its intended purpose.
