Address:

According to early 19th to late 20th century written sources, the town of Gargždai had a Jewish People's Bank, a Jewish school and a wooden synagogue that stood on the western edge of the Market Square. An entire Jewish residential quarter with the rabbi's house was formed around that synagogue. In 1923, the authorities of the Republic of Lithuania permitted the Gargždai Jewish community to build a new brick synagogue, so in 1927–1928, a new prayer house was built next to the old synagogue. Both synagogues were destroyed during the war.

On the site of the former synagogue, next to the Time Team basketball court, there is now a memorial in the form of a six-pointed star – an artistic installation from the Gargždai community.
