Jūrmalciems is a picturesque fishing village in the South Kurzeme region, located on the Baltic Sea coast between Pape and Liepāja. This village is renowned for its tranquil coastal atmosphere and expansive wild beach, where white sands, dunes, and the sea form an idyllic seaside landscape. The Jūrmalciems coastline offers ideal conditions for birdwatching, especially during migration periods when flows of rare bird species pass through this region. An old pier still stands in the sea, where fishermen continue to dock to unload their catch, which is smoked and sold nearby. In 2025, a telescope will be installed at Jūrmalciems beach, allowing a wider view of bird species both at sea and on the coastal dunes.
