SECTION DESCRIPTION:

Begin this section with something truly exotic: Kretinga Manor is home to hundreds of rare plant species, flourishing from winter through to summer. Built in 1880, the winter garden is a true paradise on earth, offering a glimpse into the rich diversity, beauty, and harmony of nature.

From Kretinga, often called the Little Vatican of Lithuania, the journey continues past Kretingsodis towards the quaint village of Rūdaičiai, welcoming you with its charming chapel, lovingly built by the locals. Built in 1990 by Stanislovas Mažeika from Rūdaičiai, the chapel was funded through generous donations. Legend has it that he felt deep sympathy for the people of Rūdaičiai, who had to travel far to pray at the distant plague graves. The small chapel cannot accommodate many worshippers, so another place of worship, the Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua in Rūdaičiai, is also used for services. This chapel is located within the village's cultural centre. Just half a kilometre down Pilalės g. from Mokyklos g., you’ll find the Rūdaičiai Hillfort – well worth a visit. The castle may have stood here until the 13th century, and locals have discovered various historical artefacts in the area. According to legend, the Swedes used spoons to build up the hillfort. On your way back to the village from the hillfort, you can take a restful break by the charming pond. The pond is nestled within a natural park, featuring dozens of wooden sculptures crafted by local artisans from the Kretinga district.

After resting your feet, continue along the forest paths towards the Health and Pranks Trail, situated within the HBH Entertainment Complex. Here, you'll discover a modern sculpture park. You can also choose to stay overnight at the complex. Just off the path, you'll find Boom Park and 313 Cable Park, the largest wakeboarding park in the Baltic States. A short walk away, at the Atostogų Parkas recreation and wellness centre, you'll also find refreshing relaxation for your body. Atostogų Parkas boasts a sauna area, several swimming pools, and even an amber sauna for ultimate relaxation.
